Context

A portion of the Learning Screen Part II assignment is creating, exploring, and adapting the works of Calvino and Krevolin with a work of print literature of our choosing. Deciding on an appropriate book was more difficult than I expected. For someone who truly enjoys reading I realized I haven’t read for leisure in a very long time. Oh, the burdensome life of an English major. Also, I take a lot of poetry classes so the most recent things I’ve really liked are either only a few pages long or are too traditional for my liking (ie epic poems).

So instead I’ve decided on a book that’s a little unconventional: Bossypants by Tina Fey. I read this book about a year ago and I blew through it. I loved it because a) I’m way too bossy for my own good b) I’m equally as quirky as Tina Fey and relate to a lot of her experiences. I jumped on the Tina Fey bandwagon after watching the movie Mean Girls; she wrote the screenplay based off of the book Queen Bees and Wannabees. I’ve followed her through the birth and death of 30 Rock and have watched too many of her SNL skits to count.

Bossypants

Overall, Tina Fey is an awesome role model for me and for all women & I can’t think of a better life story to dissect. Although this book doesn’t have a clear story map, her personal anecdotes will be fun to piecemeal together to create an original mini screenplay.
